On December 26^th 2011, the second meeting of the 8^th council of China National Association for International Studies, with the theme of “China’s Peaceful Development: Theory and Practice”, was grandly held in the Diaoyutai Hotel in Beijing. The meeting was attended by over 60 representatives from professional research institutes such as the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Institute of International Studies, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, as well as institutions of higher learning such as China Foreign Affairs University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University and Jilin University. Vice Foreign Minister Li Jinzhang attended the meeting and delivered a keynote speech. Ambassador Zhao Jinjun, Executive Deputy Chairman of China National Association for International Studies and President of CFAU, delivered a report on the work of the Association in 2011. In a multitude of forms such as keynote speech and topical discussion, the attending experts and scholars had lively and extensive academic exchanges on the current international situation and China’s Diplomacy and achieved fruitful results. This year’s council meeting lasted one day and came to a successful close after all the agenda items were accomplished.
