The Sports Department of the Graduate Student Union successfully held the sports-for-fun meeting for graduate students at the Shahe Campus of China Foreign Affairs University on April 17, 2016. Apart from the obvious purpose of building fitness, the sports-for-fun meeting also aims to promote understanding among students, improve students’ awareness of teamwork and enhance their capability to cooperate with others.
The sports-for-fun meeting included two parts – a teamwork game and an intellectual treasure hunt – and the activities covered the entire Shahe Campus. Students were required to accomplish different tasks at different locations.
The teamwork game featured group activities such as long rope jumping, a six people walk with seven feet, and minds act upon minds. Such activities demand team spirit more than individual ability and are both challenging and entertaining.
The intellectual treasure hunt, required each team to use their wits within a prescribed time to solve the clues that led to the “treasure” in 10 designated places on the campus.
The sports-for-fun meeting received a favorable response from students and 70 of them took part. Before the games, each team practiced hard. During the games, students displayed the determination that embodies the spirit of sport.. The International Relations team won first prize. The Diplomacy and International Politics team came second, and the World Economics and English team finished third. The other three competing teams were awarded the excellent prize.
