French and International Studies M.A.

Our postgraduate program aims to improve the students' language proficiency in all language skills and expertise in specialized research fields, and foster the student’s ability to perform original and independent research and make significant contributions to research in key areas.

Our final goal is to make our graduates become highly-qualified and interdisciplinary French major talents for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or other government departments, enterprises or universities.

Fields of research include French-speaking countries and regions, Sino-occidental Culture and Communication, French Translation and Interpretation, and French Literature.

The departmental core curriculum must be fulfilled in the first three semesters.

In the first three semesters, M.A. students are obliged to complete public compulsory courses, specialized compulsory courses and specialized selective courses.

In each case courses, meeting the requirement are designated yearly in departmental course listings. 

Master's degree program requires the completion of an approved thesis that demonstrates the student's ability to perform original, independent research and make significant contributions to research in key areas.

In the third semester, students must prepare a thesis proposal and complete a M.A. thesis within the fourth semester (defense is required).

Students are awarded M.A. degree upon successful completion of the thesis (including the defense).
