On June 8, 2026, Vice President Sun Jisheng met with Professor Konstantinos Sergakis, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Exeter, UK, and his delegation. Ma Xinyu, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office; Professor Ran Jijun, Dean of the English Department; and Associate Professor Wang Sidan of the Institute of International Relations, among others, attended the meeting.

Vice President Sun welcomed Deputy Vice-Chancellor Sergakis on his first visit since taking office, and introduced CFAU's basic educational situation, talent cultivation achievements and cooperation between the two universities. She said that as the only university affiliated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CFAU has supplied large numbers of professionals to the diplomatic cause over the 70 years since its founding, achieving many results in teaching, scientific research and foreign-related training. With the establishment of the Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity at CFAU in January 2025, the University's strengths and features in deepening research on China's philosophy and diplomatic practice have become even more prominent. She looked forward to more cooperation between the two universities in teaching and research.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Sergakis spoke highly of the practical cooperation between the two universities and fully recognized the comprehensive qualities of our students on exchange at Exeter, hoping to improve the quality and efficiency of the degree programs on this basis and steer bilateral cooperation toward a more lasting and stable direction.

The two sides held in-depth exchanges on topics including degree programs, mutual faculty visits and cooperative education.

The University of Exeter is a top comprehensive research university, a member of the Russell Group of the UK and of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. Our university and the University of Exeter signed a framework cooperation agreement in July 2023, launching student exchange programs including dual bachelor's degrees, dual master's degrees and combined bachelor's-master's programs.
