On October 13, the Ministry of Education held a session of its 'Education Lecture Series,' at which Gao Fei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of China Foreign Affairs University, was invited to deliver a lecture entitled 'The International Situation and Major-Country Diplomacy with Chinese Characteristics.' Xiong Sihao, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of Education, attended the lecture, which was chaired by Du Jiangfeng, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of Education.

The lecture systematically interpreted the essence, core tenets and practical requirements of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy from three dimensions — the new situation in international relations, new changes in major-power strategic rivalry, and new developments in major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics. It offered an in-depth analysis of the evolution of the modern international relations system amid changes unseen in a century and the new features of the international situation in this period of turbulence and transformation, and thoroughly explained the new achievements of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics and the new changes in China's relations with the world. Party members and officials of the Ministry's directly affiliated organs said that the lecture was far-sighted, broad in vision and rich in content, and of great guiding significance for accurately grasping the international and domestic situation facing China's development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, keeping in mind both domestic and international imperatives and the country's most fundamental interests, proactively recognizing, responding to and seeking change, and advancing high-quality development of education with a spirit of historical initiative. Going forward, they will continue to study and implement in depth the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the National Education Conference, deeply grasp education's major mission of serving the building of a modern strong country and the well-rounded development of the people, focus on the profound changes in the international competitive landscape, earnestly shoulder the political responsibility and mission of the times of educators in the new era, and consolidate the talent foundation for national development through building a leading country in education.

The lecture was held in a hybrid online-offline format. Leading members of the Secretariat Bureau of the Central Leading Group for Education Work, all departments and bureaus of the Ministry of Education, and the discipline inspection and supervision team stationed at the Ministry attended at the main venue. More than 5,000 Party members and officials of directly affiliated organs watched simultaneously online through the 'Online Party School.'
