On April 24, 2026, Dr. Zerubabel Getachew, Director-General of the Situation Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, visited the University for a discussion with representatives of the Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity and delivered a lecture to all teachers and students of the University. Vice President Sun Jisheng chaired the discussion and the lecture.

The discussion centered on how to jointly build an even closer China-Ethiopia community with a shared future. Vice President Sun said that building a community with a shared future for humanity is an important vision put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping, which has been written many times into important documents of the United Nations and other international and regional organizations, winning support and response from an increasing number of countries. In 2025, the Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity was established at China Foreign Affairs University, deepening the study and interpretation of the vision from different angles and fields.

Professor Qu Bo, Director of the Institute of International Relations; Associate Professor He Gang, Deputy Director of the Secretariat of the Research Center; Associate Research Fellows Miao Ji and Dong Liang of the Institute of Asian Studies; and Ma Xinyu, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office, shared their perspectives from five dimensions respectively: sustainable development, poverty reduction experience, international security, climate change, and foreign training.

Director-General Getachew spoke highly of China-Ethiopia cooperation, saying that the two countries' relations have long formed a high-level 'community.' He thanked China for its development assistance to Ethiopia, looked forward to the establishment of a cooperative relationship between the two countries' diplomatic academies, and shared his views on bilateral cooperation.

The delegation visited the Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity. Vice President Sun introduced the achievements the Center has made since its establishment.

Subsequently, Director-General Getachew delivered a lecture entitled 'The Evolution of the China-Ethiopia All-Weather Strategic Partnership: The Pinnacle of South-South Cooperation.' He analyzed the two countries' exchanges in historical depth and offered an in-depth interpretation and analysis of the all-weather China-Ethiopia strategic partnership. Director-General Getachew said that China-Ethiopia relations are a model of South-South cooperation, and he looked forward to further expansion and deepening of bilateral relations in the future.

Afterwards, Director-General Getachew answered students' questions on China-Ethiopia cooperation, Ethiopia's role in regional affairs, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
