On June 8, the inauguration ceremony of the Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity in Bosnia and Herzegovina was held in Sarajevo. More than 300 guests attended, including Wang Shiting, Secretary-General of the Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity of China and Secretary of the CPC Committee of CFAU; Li Fan, Chinese Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina; Marinko Čavara, Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH; Knežević, Joint Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of BiH; Tajnik, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers; Gonganovic, Deputy Minister of Defense; Dilberović, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Stojanović, Vice President of the Federation of BiH, together with figures from political, business, military and academic circles and a number of foreign diplomatic envoys to BiH — a gathering of distinguished guests in a friendly atmosphere. Mainstream media including Xinhua News Agency, China Media Group, and BiH's FENA and SRNA news agencies covered the event extensively and positively, generating a warm response.
The guests listened via video to President Xi Jinping's important remarks on building a community with a shared future for humanity delivered on international occasions, revisited the rich connotations and far-reaching significance of the four global initiatives, and truly appreciated the truth value and practical power of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy. The English edition of the fifth volume of 'Xi Jinping: The Governance of China' displayed at the venue was widely popular, with guests saying they hoped to find in it the 'secret recipe' of China's governance. Many friends traveled long distances over mountains to attend the event and renew China-BiH friendship. Renowned BiH violinist Marika and students of the Javor School performed classic Chinese and BiH pieces including 'Fishermen's Song at Dusk' and 'From Your Lips.' Tenor Mario performed a self-composed song 'To China with Love,' whose soaring melody and affection for China brought the event to a climax.
In his remarks, Ambassador Wang Shiting said that building a community with a shared future for humanity is the core vision of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, advocating that all countries meet challenges together and create the future hand in hand in one and the same world. In the face of uncertainties in the international situation, all parties should adhere to openness and cooperation, address differences through dialogue and expand common interests through cooperation. The establishment of the BiH Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity builds a new platform for the two sides to carry out conceptual exchanges, academic cooperation and people-to-people interactions. He hoped the Center would combine the Chinese vision with BiH's realities, combine academic research with social communication, and combine China-BiH friendship with youth exchanges, producing more results with depth, warmth and strength. China's Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity stands ready to jointly hold seminars, special lectures, youth dialogues and joint research with the BiH Center, promoting a deeper, more vivid and locally grounded interpretation of the vision of a community with a shared future for humanity in BiH and the wider region.
In his remarks, Ambassador Li Fan said that President Xi Jinping's vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity means, at its core, that all humanity is one family with a shared future, in which countries' interests converge, destinies intertwine, and weal and woe are shared. This vision transcends the 'small circle' rules of bloc politics, transcends the logic of might-is-right, and transcends the 'universal values' defined by a few Western countries. On this basis, China has put forward and practiced the four global initiatives, contributing Chinese wisdom to solving global challenges from the four dimensions of development, security, civilization and governance. The establishment of the BiH Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity is a major event in China-BiH relations and a vivid demonstration of the flourishing exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. As the saying goes, 'go alone and you go fast; go together and you go far.' He hoped the Center would become an important platform for interpreting, studying and communicating Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, promote a deeper understanding among all sectors of BiH of the diplomatic philosophy of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in the new era, and facilitate dialogue and people-to-people connectivity between the two countries, injecting new impetus into the cause of China-BiH friendship and the development of bilateral relations.
The BiH side spoke highly of the global significance and worldwide influence of China's major initiatives. Softić, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, said that BiH understands from its own experience the value of national peace and social stability, and deeply appreciates the importance of China's aforementioned vision and initiatives; he expressed confidence that the BiH Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity can enhance mutual understanding through dialogue. Borić, Chairman of the Center's Advisory Board, said the Center is committed to building an open platform for exchange, promoting research on the vision of a community with a shared future for humanity and major international issues, and contributing to deepening BiH-China friendly cooperation. Ajdin, adviser to the BiH Foreign Minister, said the vision of a community with a shared future for humanity is of revolutionary significance and is truly unfolding on Chinese soil; he hoped the Center would formulate concrete action plans and cultivate a new generation of friendly forces toward China. Slobodan, former BiH Ambassador to France, said the history of great-power hegemony is a selfish and outdated history, and that China's vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity offers new thinking for solving global challenges, to which he hopes to contribute toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The BiH Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity is an independent research institution with an advisory board, dedicated to studying, interpreting and communicating the vision of a community with a shared future for humanity and major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, and committed to academic exchanges and dialogue among civilizations so as to promote China-BiH cooperation and friendship. During his attendance at the inauguration ceremony, Secretary Wang Shiting also held inter-university exchanges with the University of East Sarajevo.
