2019 International Law Forum Held in HK


On August 15th-16th, the Chinese Society of International Law and the Asian Institute of International Law jointly organized the "2019 International Law Forum" in Hong Kong under the theme of "Synergy and Security: Keys to Sustainable Global Investment".

Opening remarks were made by Mrs Carrie Lam, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR); Huang Jin, president of the Chinese Society of International Law; and Liang Dingbang, dean of the Asian Institute of International Law. Keynote speeches were delivered by Xie Feng, special commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China; and Kennedy Gaston, secretary general of the AALCO.

The forum focused on issues such as promoting international trade and investment, dispute resolution, the “Belt and Road” and international law, and cybersecurity. In attendance were more than 300 international law scholars and practical experts from such countries and regions as China, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Poland, the United States, Thailand, Belgium, Chile, South Korea, Switzerland and HKSAR. Huang Jin and Zhang Aining, the secretary general, led a delegation to attend the meeting. Members of the delegation came from China Foreign Affairs University, China University of Political Science and Law, Renmin University of China, East China University of Political Science and Law, Jilin University, Zhongshan University, Huazhong Normal University, South China Normal University and other domestic universities.
