The 21st ‘FLTRP Cup’ National English Debating Competition - North China Regional Final was held at the China University of Petroleum (Beijing) from April 14th to 15th, 2018, attracting the participation of 87 teams. Du Zedong and Wang Junliang, students from the Department of English and International Studies, won the first prize and the best debater awards for their ability to deduce, analyze, and adapt changes, their fluent English expression, and their skillful debating skills. The CFAU team has successfully advanced to the national finals.

The North China Regional final was sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Secretariat of All-China Students' Federation, and Beijing Foreign Studies University, and was organized by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, as well as the China University of Petroleum (Beijing). The competition is one of the largest and highest-level spoken English events in China. In recent years, the English debating team from CFAU has made great achievements. It has established a strong reputation in the domestic English debating circles and enjoyed considerable popularity and recognition.
