To fully implement the 'Project of Fostering Virtue through Education in the New Era,' deepen the 'Soul-Forging Project' for young diplomats, and advance the Beijing Municipal Education Work Committee's 'Joining Hands for the Future' action plan, and to mark the 107th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement, China Foreign Affairs University held the 'Diplomatic Iron Army, Passing the Torch, Joining Hands for the Future' themed education event at the Shahe campus on May 6. The event opened with a documentary of light and shadow, systematically reviewing the fruitful achievements and outstanding answers delivered by CFAU over the past year under the leadership of the CPC Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through concerted effort and solid work in educational development and student cultivation; through artistic forms such as recitations, songs and dances, it presented a vivid picture of our teachers and students' enterprising and uplifting spirit; and through a centralized commendation, it strove to foster an ethos of learning from and surpassing one another, pooling the mighty strength of young diplomats in the new era who keep family and country in heart, shoulder their mission and forge ahead.

Attending the event were Zhang Baijia, former Deputy Director of the Party History Research Office of the CPC Central Committee and representative of the donors of the Zhang Wenjin Scholarship; Zhou Xiaopei, former Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine, Poland and Kazakhstan and representative of the donors of the Veteran Diplomats Scholarship; Shen Qing, President of the Beijing Da Luan Xiangyu Charity Foundation and representative of the donors of the Xiangyu Scholarship; and Wang Lin, Secretary-General of the Beijing Wu Jianmin Public Welfare Foundation and representative of the donors of the Wu Jianmin Scholarship, as well as relevant MFA departments and bureaus, all university leaders and heads of all departments. Before the themed education event, Wang Shiting, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the University, Gao Fei, President, and others accompanied the guests on a campus tour, visiting the university history exhibition hall in the library, introducing in detail the University's educational heritage, development achievements and talent cultivation features, and holding in-depth exchanges on diplomatic talent cultivation and the University's high-quality development.

In his remarks, Secretary Wang Shiting warmly welcomed the visiting guests and expressed heartfelt gratitude to people from all sectors who have long cared for and supported the University's development. He pointed out that this themed education event coincides with the May Fourth Youth Day, and that all teachers and students of the University should take General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on youth work as their fundamental guidance, cherish lofty ideals and strive unremittingly, integrating personal pursuits into the country's overall development. He encouraged the students to firm up their convictions, keep the motherland in heart and consolidate the foundation of their faith; to take on responsibilities, master their professions and enhance their professional capabilities; and to maintain strict conduct, temper their character and carry forward an upright ethos — striving to contribute the youthful wisdom and responsibility of CFAU youth to advancing major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, advancing the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, and realizing the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The event featured a video of messages and mottos of outstanding CFAU students for the 2024-2025 academic year, with exhibition boards on the deeds of national scholarship recipients displayed alongside, comprehensively showcasing the fine spirit of our students' hard work and growth since the implementation of the 'Soul-Forging Project' for young diplomats. With advanced role models leading thought and touching hearts, the event inspired all students to emulate the best and strive forward, writing their youthful answers and fulfilling their youthful mission in advancing the cause of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics.
