Congratulations to President Qin Yaqing on His Election as Foreign Fellow of the Royal Academy of Belgium

In a letter from the Royal Academy of Belgium (ARB) to China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU), President Qin Yaqing was recently informed of his election as a Foreign Member of the ARB and was invited to attend the induction ceremony held in Brussels in early June 2018.

Founded in 1772 by Maria Theresa, Archduchess of Austria, the world-renowned Royal Academy is one of the most esteemed academic societies in Belgium. Foreign Membership is an honorary title conferred on exceptional scholars who have made remarkable contributions in certain fields, including Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, former president of the Republic of France; Vaira Vike-Freiberga, former president of the Republic of Latvia; and Thierry de Montbria, chairman of the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI).

CFAU is currently at a crucial stage in developing its main disciplines to international standards of excellence, with international academic cooperation and exchanges being one of the five main evaluating indicators. Based on various statistics from CNKI concerning international relations in the past decade, including publication of papers in China, President Qin is an academic leader in this field. President Qin’s Chinese culture-based theory has drawn great attention and aroused heated discussions around the world. In 2018, his work A Relational Theory of World Politics was published by Cambridge University Press. The election of President Qin is attributed to his outstanding research and international reputation in the study of international relations. The bestowal of this honor upon President Qin has greatly promoted our progress towards becoming a “Double First-Class” university. Congratulations to President Qin on his election as a foreign member of the Royal Academy of Belgium!
