CFAU Wins Second Prize in the 15th CIETAC CUP International Commercial Arbitration Moot

A team of six students from China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) won second prize in the 15th CIETAC CUP International Commercial Arbitration Moot & Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Preliminary.

Two undergraduates -- Cao Chao and Wang Yifan -- and four  postgraduates -- Li Zekun, LianYawen, La Haozhao, and Shao Yifan -- from the Department of International Law at CFAU participated in the contest under the guidance of Dr. Zhang Chunyan and Dr. Yang Yun.

The contest was held in the Beijing Chamber of International Commerce Building from Nov. 20 to 24, 2017, and organized by the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC).

The annual CIETAC Cup International Commercial Arbitration Moot is a contest for law majors studying at law schools in China. It publicizes the concept of commercial arbitration, helps deepen law majors’ understanding of commercial arbitration and further contributes to the nurturing of Chinese advanced personnel in arbitration law.

The contest attracted 50 teams from almost all the renowned Chinese schools of law, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Wuhan University and Fudan University.

The CFAU team was awarded second prize after finishing the competition against Peking University, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, Nanjing Tech University and Beijing Normal University respectively.

This contest proved rewarding for the delegates from CFAU, enabling them to communicate with arbitrators, share their observations, and learn from their counterparts at other universities.
