Students from China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) were among 200 Chinese students who attended the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi, Russia, from October 14-23.
China’s delegation was organized by the International Department of the Central Committee of Chinese Communist Youth League (CCYL). The 14 CFAU students comprised the largest delegation and voluntarily spent the longest time manning the Chinese national booth and friendship market. They paid tribute to the opening of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (NCCPC) with their actions, showing the world the talent and competence of Chinese youth with their unswerving loyalty and enterprising spirit.
The CFAU student delegates carried out a lot of preparations before setting off for the festival in order to show a better image of China to the world. They made souvenirs and handicrafts with Chinese characteristics -- original poems and calligraphy that expressed hope for peace and friendship. They also accepted an interview at the invitation of CGTN Russian Channel to talk about the preparatory work on behalf of the Chinese youth delegates.
International Economics student Liu Diyi showed his calligraphy skills at the Chinese friendship market and interacted with foreign youngsters, demonstrating Chinese youth’s responsibility for learning and carrying forward China's great history and culture with an open and inclusive attitude.
Tang Jie, an English and International Studies junior, acted as interpreter for the representative of the Chinese delegation during his keynote speech. The consecutive interpretation was hailed as a great success, showing the excellence of students from CFAU.
Fu Zhenbang, secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of CCYL, visited the Chinese national booth after the opening ceremony on October 15. He congratulated the students from CFAU for their devotion as volunteers. Secretary Fu extended his congratulations to all China’s youth delegates, hoping that they could grasp such a precious opportunity and rise to the challenge. He also urged the students to demonstrate the competence of Chinese youth on the world stage.
The 19th World Festival of Youth and Students was held in several Russian cities. More than 20,000 youngsters from all over the world were invited. The CFAU students exchanged their opinions on various issues with the youth from other countries, spreading Chinese positive energy to the world. During the 10-day event, they attended several seminars, international conferences and other activities concerning athletics and cultural exchanges. Together with the youth from different countries, they experienced cutting-edge technology while envisaging the fourth industrial revolution, shared the splendid culture of the world and participated in interactive projects. The students from CFAU were a unique card for China. They made the Chinese voice heard worldwide and forged friendships with the youth from foreign countries.
