Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Burundi visits CFAU

On March 16, 2017, Burundi’s minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, S.E.M. Alain Alimé NYAMITWE, visited CFAU with his delegation. During his visit, the minister had a talk with CFAU staff and students on the topic of ‘China-Africa Relations in the Perspective of Burundi.

         The delegation was warmly received by CFAU President Qin Yaqing and Vice President Sun Jisheng. President Qin extended his welcome to the foreign minister and gave a brief introduction of CFAU. The minister expressed great pleasure in visiting CFAU with a wish to enhance cooperation with CFAU in the future.

The talk was hosted by CFAU Vice President Sun Jisheng. A speech was given by the minister on the current development of Africa, China-Africa relations, Sino-Burundi trade and other related issues.

In the Q and A session, Minister S.E.M. Alain Alimé NYAMITWE answered questions from CFAU teachers and students concerning prospects of China-Burundi economic and trade development, China's investment in Africa and other issues. The minister emphasized the important role China played in providing aid to Africa throughout the years. He believed that cooperation between China and Africa is mutually beneficial and a win-win practice.

 

S.E.M. Alain Alimé NYAMITWE took office on May 21, 2015 as Burundi Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. He served as Burundi’s Ambassador to the African Union, Ethiopia and Nigeria.
