On the 31st of October, 2016, the president of the Republic of Guinea, his excellency S. E. M. Alpha Condé, along with a delegation visited CFAU Shahe campus. A lecture titled China-Guinea relations, peace and security situation in Africa was given on the visit.
President of CFAU Qin Yaqing and vice president Wan Fan warmly welcomed Mr. Condé and his delegation. Qin gave a brief introduction to CFAU in which Mr. Condé responded by saying it was a pleasure visiting CFAU campus, a reminder of his teaching years in the University of Sorbonne. Meanwhile, a certificate of CFAU honorary professor was issued to Mr. Condé.
Mr. Condé’s lecture includes sections on colonial history and the fight for independence in Guinea. Looking back on the relation between China and Guinea, Mr. Condé thanked China for the help and support after Guinea gained independence.
Mr. Condé’s lecture was met by warm response as he received applauses from students and staff of CFAU. Questions from students included that of cooperation between China and Guinea and China’s role in Africa which were duly answered by the president.
Later in the concluding talk, president Qin mentioned that as Guinea is a key partner to China on both strategic cooperation and bilateral relations, Mr. Condé’s visit is a significant event in the sense that it would help to promote the bilateral relations as well as mutual understanding between China and Guinea.
