Teaching and Research | Faculty of International Economics Invited to Attend "2025 National Financial Professional Degree Graduate Talent Training Conference"

On March 29-30,2025, Guo Hongyu, Deputy Director of the International Finance Department at the International Economics College, and faculty member Zhu Yinglun were invited to Haikou to attend the 2025 National Financial Professional Degree Graduate Talent Development Conference. The event was organized by the National Financial Professional Degree Graduate Education Guidance Committee and co-hosted by Hainan University and Hainan Rural Commercial Bank.

The forum, themed "High-Level Financial Opening-up and High-Quality Financial Talent Cultivation," comprised four key components: a prelude session, opening forum, plenary roundtable, and parallel sessions. Attendees included Hainan Provincial Vice Governor Xie Jing, Wu Xiaoqiu (former Vice President of Renmin University of China and National First-Class Professor), Deputy Director of the Education Steering Committee, along with over 300 delegates from the Peoples Bank of China, financial institutions across Hainan Province, and national masters programs in finance.

High-level financial openness requires high-quality financial talent, which imposes higher demands on the cultivation of financial professionals. Experts at the conference agreed that financial openness is far more challenging than the opening of the real economy and demands higher standards for risk management, necessitating fundamental adjustments to financial education in the future. In the training of financial talent, it is essential to thoroughly implement Xi Jinpings thoughts on the rule of law, attach great importance to financial ethics, professional ethics, and legal education, and leverage the role of financial talent cultivation in building a strong financial and educational nation. During the parallel forum, experts engaged in profound and detailed discussions on themes such as "high-level openness in the financial sector and international talent cultivation,"  "cultivating talents in the five major fields of finance and interdisciplinary expertise,"  "promoting the integration of industry and education and applied talent development," and "Chinas distinctive financial talent cultivation and ideological and legal education."

Guo Hongyu and Zhu Yinglun attended the keynote speeches by participating experts and held discussions with representatives from other financial masters degree programs on common challenges in enrollment, training, and employment. The cultivation of internationalized, interdisciplinary, and application-oriented financial professionals aligns closely with our universitys Master of Finance (MFin) professional degree objectives. Moreover, our ideological and legal education initiatives are being progressively integrated into the MFin curriculum. Through these exchanges, our institution will better define the strategic direction of MFin education while incorporating advanced practices from peer institutions into our own training framework.
