On June 22, the Jakarta Forum Celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was held at the ASEAN Secretariat, with the theme of 'Building a More Dynamic, Effective, and Regionally and Globally Impactful China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.' More than 150 people attended, including Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN; Wang Qing, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN; Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of ESCAP; the Secretary-General of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly; Hassan Wirajuda, former Foreign Minister of Indonesia; Ong Keng Yong, former Secretary-General of ASEAN; diplomatic envoys of various countries to ASEAN; and representatives from across the region. Participating guests held in-depth exchanges on three topics: 'strengthening multilateralism and jointly safeguarding the international order based on international law,' 'unleashing strengths and potential and jointly promoting regional prosperity and sustainable development,' and 'enhancing cultural understanding and cooperation to jointly demonstrate the value of exchanges among civilizations.'

During the forum, the special report 'China-ASEAN Relations: An Indispensable Partnership with a Shared Future — Review and Outlook,' jointly written by Chinese and ASEAN scholars organized by our university and Indonesia's Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), was officially released. The report is part of the commemorative activities of the 2026 theme year marking the 5th anniversary of the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership. President Gao Fei wrote the preface for the report, which comprehensively reviews the evolution of China-ASEAN relations, summarizes cooperation achievements in key areas including security, economy and trade, connectivity, the digital economy, the green economy, energy, education, youth cooperation and think tank exchanges, and looks ahead to future development prospects and directions. Professor Yang Yue, Deputy Director of the Institute of Asian Studies, introduced the report's contents at the launch session.

As the national coordinating unit of the Network of ASEAN-China Think-tanks (NACT), China Foreign Affairs University has long played an irreplaceable leading think tank role in China-ASEAN cooperation. Over the more than ten years since the network's establishment, CFAU has continuously organized joint research and submitted working group reports to the China-ASEAN Leaders' Meeting every year, providing important intellectual support for decision-making on both sides, with the reports highly recognized by the leaders of various countries. Going forward, the University will continue to cultivate frontier topics and advance the building of an even closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
