On April 1, 2026, Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited the Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity and held discussions with representatives of the Research Center and China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU). Qi Yu, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Miao Deyu, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, among others, participated in the visit.

In his remarks, Wang Yi fully recognized the progress made by the Center in the year and more since its inauguration. He said that establishing and building the Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity is an important political task entrusted by the CPC Central Committee to the diplomatic service. Under the guidance and support of departments including the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of Education, and under the hands-on leadership of the CPC Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Center's development has proceeded in an orderly and solid manner, forming a 'four-in-one' work framework integrating academic research, policy advice, international communication, and talent cultivation — a very good start.

Wang Yi emphasized that the Center must always keep in mind the glorious mission it shoulders, study and promote well the major original vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping, serve the research, interpretation, dissemination and popularization of the Party's innovative theories, and steadily advance this theoretical development project with its distinct political character. Proceeding from resolutely safeguarding the 'Two Establishments' and ensuring the 'Two Upholds,' the Center must maintain a high degree of political consciousness, keep to the right political direction, and ensure that theoretical research has a foundation, a soul and driving force. It must deeply grasp the strategic guiding role of this major vision amid changes unseen in one hundred years, its important guiding significance as a scientific system, the Marxist stance, viewpoint and methodology it applies, and its profound implications that connect past and present and integrate China and the world, so as to strengthen historical confidence, draw strength for forging ahead, adhere to fundamental principles and origins, and build a Chinese narrative.

In light of the new situation and new tasks in building the Center, Wang Yi put forward five expectations: first, to take initiative and strive to be a vanguard in research on diplomatic thought; second, to cultivate in-depth academic research and build a leading hub for diplomatic theory building; third, to strengthen international communication and build a powerhouse for influencing international thought; fourth, to actively offer policy advice and produce more quality outputs serving diplomatic practice; and fifth, to focus on educating and attracting talent, forging a diplomatic iron army capable of shouldering heavy responsibilities.

Wang Yi pointed out that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan. We must rally even more closely around the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, further study, reflect on, practice and internalize Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, scale the heights of theory, forge ahead with determination, and advance the development of the Center and all its work, making greater contributions to major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in the new era.

Secretary Qi Yu said that the Research Center shoulders a major mission and has bright prospects. It must constantly strengthen its sense of mission, responsibility and honor, raise its political standing, and deeply understand the great significance of building the Center well; strengthen political commitment and advance all the Center's work with high standards and high quality; and shoulder political responsibility, providing strong guarantees for the Center's development so as to accomplish well this important political task entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.
