On August 20, a delegation led by Gao Fei, President of China Foreign Affairs University, paid a courtesy call on and held talks with Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, in Phnom Penh.

President Gao Fei said that the visit of the China Foreign Affairs University delegation to Cambodia aims to promote, at the Track II level, the implementation of the Fuxian Lake Meeting consensus and advance Cambodia-Thailand reconciliation. Track II dialogue is flexible in form and can provide a platform for all parties to maintain communication and enhance mutual trust, contributing wisdom and strength to the realization of lasting peace. Hun Sen thanked China Foreign Affairs University for its active role in advancing Track II dialogue and appreciated China's active participation in and support for promoting the proper settlement of the Cambodia-Thailand border issue through peaceful means.

Hun Sen pointed out that the visit of the China Foreign Affairs University delegation to Cambodia is a concrete demonstration of further consolidating and deepening the China-Cambodia 'ironclad friendship.' He spoke highly of current China-Cambodia relations, noting that the two countries have established an all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era and a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Since the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict broke out in May 2025, China has upheld a fair and impartial position in promoting peace and talks, facilitated the 'Anning tea gathering' among the foreign ministers of China, Cambodia and Thailand, and promoted the reaching of the 'Fuxian Lake consensus.' To further consolidate the outcomes of the Fuxian Lake Meeting, build consensus among all parties and foster a favorable public opinion environment, China Foreign Affairs University has twice hosted China-Cambodia-Thailand Track II Dialogues in February and April 2026, jointly exploring with Cambodia and Thailand paths toward peaceful settlement.
