“China-ASEAN Public Health Cooperation” Roundtable Symposium Held in Beijing

The “China-ASEAN Public Health Cooperation” roundtable symposium was held in Beijing on January 29, 2022. The symposium was jointly sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) and Peking Union Medical College (PUMC), as well as China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU). Xu Jian, President of CFAU and Academician Wang Chen, President of CAMS & PUMC, delivered the opening addresses respectively. Leaders and   experts from the Department of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign   Affairs, National Health Commission, All-China Women’s Federation,   International Poverty Reduction Center in China, China Charity Federation and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College attended the meeting and had in-depth discussions.

                                             

The   main pupose of the roundtable symposium is to promote pragmatic cooperation in various fields under the guidance of Chinese and ASEAN leaders’ consensus and to focus on the implementation of China-ASEAN   Health Shield” leaders’ initiative at the inception of China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership. Feng Luzhao, Vice President of School of Population Medicine and Public Health (SPMPH) of PUMC, presided over the speech and the project introduction. Guo Yanjun, Director of Institute of Asian Studies of CFAU, presided over the guests’ statement. Shao Ruitai, Distinguished Professor of SPMPH of PUMC, presided over the free discussion.

                                                

The conference facilitated the exchange of views on China-ASEAN health diplomacy among members of relevant departments, and put forward innovative ideas, as well as creating synergy.  As two first-class universities in the sector, the joint effort of CFAU and PUMC to promote the implementation of “China-ASEAN Health Shield” leaders’  initiative, will promote the establishment of a positive health partnership among countries, build a close and strong global community of health knowledge and promote the building of a shared future community for mankind.
