Annual CNAIS Economic Diplomacy Research Center Meeting held at UIBE

The Seminar on “the Situation and Prospects of China's Economic Diplomacy under the Concept of a New Type of International Relations” and the 2018 Economic Diplomacy Research Center of the China National Association for International Studies (CNAIS) Annual Meeting was held at the University of International Business and Economics.

Global politics and economics have entered a new period. China has put forward a new concept of building a new type of international relations featuring win-win cooperation. This concept not only follows and builds upon the primary principles and aims of the UN Charter, but also innovates traditional international relations. The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China report pointed out that we should promote the building of a new type of international relations featuring mutual respect, fairness and justice, as well as win-win cooperation to make China's diplomatic goals and development more targeted and to strengthen the international system. China's economic diplomacy in the new era needs to advance with the times at both the theoretical and policy levels.

The annual meeting is sponsored by the Economic Diplomacy Research Center of the China National Association for International Studies (CNAIS) and is organized by the Economic Diplomacy Research Center at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE).

In order to establish a resource-integrated and highly-coordinated academic network for economic diplomacy, the School of International Economics at CFAU has combined the four economic diplomacy research centers at CFAU, Tsinghua University, University of International Business and Economics, as well as Wuhan University, and led the proposal to establish the Economic Diplomacy Research Center of the China National Association for International Studies at the 2014 annual meeting. The Department of International Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Party Committee of CFAU strongly supported this decision. At present, there are ten formal members .

In the future, the Economic Diplomacy Research Center will continue to integrate various research resources, promote theoretical and policy research on the economic diplomacies of big countries with Chinese characteristics, and better serve national diplomatic strategy. The member universities unanimously agreed that Zhejiang University of Technology in Hangzhou will host the 2019 annual meeting.
