The Translation and Interpretation Studies Center at China Foreign Affairs University was founded in July 2008. The center aims to continue CFAU’s tradition as a leader in translation teaching and studies, and build a first-rate academic institution for translation studies. The center focuses on the study of theories and teaching methods for translation and interpreting to form its own characteristics through innovation. It provides a platform for the exchange of ideas among scholars of translation studies both at home and abroad. It also aims to promote cooperation with centers for translation studies at other universities, including foreign ones. The center explores strategies for the education of advanced translators and interpreters, and applies its academic findings to CFAU’s teaching practices to meet China’s needs for advanced translators and interpreters.
The center boasts an excellent team of highly educated scholars with strong research abilities. They have produced beneficial research in the areas of the study and practice of translation and interpreting, and translation teaching methods for diplomacy-themed topics.
In short, the center will maintain its research activities and publication record in order to enhance its reputation as a center for studies of translation, studies of translation teaching methods, and translation materials.
