Commercial Dispute Resolution Research Center

The Research Center for Commercial Dispute Resolution at China Foreign Affairs University was established in 2012 with the purpose of studying and disseminating practices and information about dispute resolution, especially those related to commercial transactions.

The main staff members, who are also faculty members of the Department of International Law at China Foreign Affairs University, include Professor Lu Song, Professor Sun Jilu, Professor Xu Junke, Professor He Wanzhong, Professor Song Xiumei, Professor Zang Li and Professor Zhang Hua.

The center’s principal achievement is the output of a joint program with the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, namely the CIETAC Guidelines on Evidence. These guidelines were issued to the public in 2015 and represented several years of study and discussion among domestic and international lawyers and arbitrators. The guidelines serve as important evidentiary rules of reference for arbitration users as well as Chinese and foreign arbitration practitioners engaged in CIETAC arbitration. The center has also established the Kuangshan Forum, a website that shares information and discusses rules and practice relating to commercial dispute resolution.
