On 28th March 2018, the prize-giving ceremony for excellent students was held in the auditorium at the Shahe Campus of CFAU, under the title “Bearing missions of youth in mind to fulfil dreams of youth in the new era”. The ceremony was organized by the Student Affairs Office and the Youth League Committee of China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU). It was held to help CFAU students further their studies and implement the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and the socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics of Xi Jinping in the new era, and give full play to the role of model education, to actively promote the work of ideological and political education for university students, and to develop students of the new era into talents who can shoulder the great responsibility of national rejuvenation and keep in mind the diplomatic mission and contribute to the realization of the Chinese dream. The event was attended by Qin Yaqing, president of CFAU; Sun Jisheng and Li Hongmei, vice presidents of CFAU; and Gao Fei, assistant to the CFAU president.
President Qin Delivers a Keynote Speech
Professor Qin expressed his warm welcome and gratitude to guests for their presence and to CFAU alumni and people from all walks of life for their support of the development of CFAU. He also paid tribute to teachers and congratulated the outstanding students and advanced groups who were honored in the activity.
In his speech, Professor Qin expressed his hope that CFAU students and faculties would take this activity as a good chance to continue learning the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and the socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics of Xi Jinping in a new era; to bring model education into full play; to be innovative; to cooperate and coordinate with each other; and to enrich the essence of the CFAU system of cultivating talents. In this way, CFAU can develop moresocialist builders and successors, who can shoulder the responsibility of national rejuvenation and feature in an all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and beauty.
President Qin noted that CFAU students should bear in mind the school motto of “Unswerving Loyalty, Mastery of Policies, Professional Competency, and Observance of Discipline”. He also encouraged students to firstly strengthen their resolve and rise up to the mission of youth. In other words, CFAU talents need to be committed to high ideals, strong faith and good morality, to master rich knowledge and excellent skills, and to observe a diligent work style to take the responsibility of national rejuvenation and achieve their dreams. Secondly, CFAU students need to keep in pace with trends and meet the emerging demands of the times. That is to say, students should work hard as well as have a global vision and develop themselves into excellent diplomats. Thirdly, hard work and morality are very important. Students should be active thinkers and people of action. In this way, they will be empowered with knowledge and contribute to the progress of human society, help those who gave them a helping hand, and pave the way for their own future. We are now in a new era, embarking on a new journey. Thus we need to make new progress. President Qin expressed his wish that CFAU students and faculty members will take the year 2018 as a new starting point and make new achievements!
The ceremony was composed of three parts, namely, “Learn from students with both integrity and academic competence and bear in mind missions of youth”, “Have a high and vigorous spirit and look forward to the future”, and “Forge ahead and fulfill dreams of youth in the new era”. The activity reviewed the achievements in political and moral education and the cultivation of talents carried out in all departments and schools over the past year. The honored individuals and groups were encouraged to cherish the hard-won honor and continue to lead all CFAU students in actively implementing the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC, keep high ideals, and strive to be youth who have such ideals, professional skills, and stand ready to shoulder responsibility and to be explorers and contributors for China, Chinese people and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Ltd.

CFAU has been developing diplomatic personnel for many years. Previous graduates, who are very proud of the university, have made good examples for current university students. The Sitcom Stories of Diplomats provided us with a chance of getting to know the influence of the examples.

In 2017, the CFAU National Flag Group was established by the Student Affairs Office to foster patriotism in students and shape their characters through tough daily training and cultivate quality diplomatic personnel who are loyal to their country, obey orders, and are well-disciplined and firm in will.

Zhou Bingde, president of the Enlai Foundation addressed in her speech that the establishment of this foundation was meant to commemorate Premier Zhou Enlai and encourage awarded students to have great resolve, work harder, improve virtues and devote themselves to the course of diplomatic undertaking. She mentioned the close relationship between Premier Zhou and CFAU. CFAU is the cradle of diplomats, so its students are the backbones of China’s future. She hoped that CFAU students cherish their school time for learning, take Premier Zhou as a model, uphold his spirit and rise up to the responsibility of national development.

President Shi Yanhua noted in her speech that she felt she was at home when she came to the Shahe Campus. To establish the Wu Jianmin Foundation in CFAU was to encourage young scholars to work hard and make their contributions to the motherland. She spoke highly of the excellent diplomatic quality displayed by CFAU members and encouraged them to join the diplomatic personnel in the near future.
