CFAU Students Serve as Volunteers at Forum on Transitional Oil-Gas Pipelines Security

The Third Lianyungang Forum and the First International Cooperation Conference on Transitional Oil-Gas Pipelines Security was successfully held in Lianyungang from 10th -13th December 2017. It was jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China, the Department of Public Security of Jiangsu Province and the Lianyungang Municipal Public Security Bureau. Ten students from the Department of Foreign Languages and one student from the Department of English participated in the volunteer service work under the guidance of Ma Ming, a teacher in the Japanese Teaching and Research Office.

The eleven volunteer students carefully followed the event’s arrangements and instructions, maintaining a calm and good-natured attitude in the face of tasks involving high intensity, high pressure, and rapid changes. They combined their language expertise with their knowledge about foreign affairs to help the guests participate in the activities of the forum, and took the initiative to help the organizers complete the integration of information, write publicity manuscripts and other additional tasks. This demonstrated the unique style of the students at CFAU, and won praise from the guests and forum staff. Ma Ming paid close attention to the voluntary work of the eleven students throughout, coordinating much of the work and taking photos to preserve many of the wonderful memories for the students.

By participating in this forum, the eleven students have acquired practical experience in the field of official receptions and foreign affairs, and gained a deeper understanding of international security cooperation. Everyone agreed that they had learned and gained a lot from this activity.
