The 2017 CFAU Freshman English Speech Contest, and the 23rd 21st Century Coca-Cola Cup National English Speech Contest were hosted at CFAU’s Shahe Campus on the afternoon of November 1, 2017. The Committee of the Communist Youth League and the English Department of CFAU sponsored the competition. Twenty-four contestants from all departments participated in the competition.

The theme of the competition was Belt and Road: China and the World. First, the contestants made a three-minute prepared speech on the theme. The contestants then answered questions raised to them by the juries. Wang Xiaoyi and Ding Qingjun won first prize. Xu Can, Xiao Xiaoxiao and Lu Zhiyuan won second prize. The third prize went to Li Shangyi, Bai Xinyu, Wang Yuchen, Jiang Aitong, and Jing Ziyao.

Through this competition, the contestants demonstrated their understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative, improved their English public speaking skills, raised their level of comprehensive knowledge and displayed their English talent .
