Former National Security Adviser of India Visited CFAU


On November 1st 2019, Ambassador Shivshankar Menon, the former National Security Adviser of India visited CFAU and attended the “Geopolitics of Asia” workshop hosted by the Institute of Asian Studies and the Department of Diplomacy. Before the workshop began, Ambassador Menon was met by CFAU President Xu Jian, who was accompanied by Associate Professor Wu Xiaoping, director of the Foreign Affairs Office, Associate Professor Guo Yanjun, director of the Institute of Asian Studies, Professor Su Hao of the Department of Diplomacy, and Associate Professor Ren Yuanzhe of the Department of Diplomacy.

President Xu extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Menon and provided a brief introduction to CFAU. Ambassador Menon said he was glad to visit CFAU and discussed international affairs, including China-India relations, the world situation, how to enhance the academic communication between China and India and other topics.


Menon served as the National Security Adviser of India from January 2010 to May 2014. Prior to that he was High Commissioner of India to Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and ambassador to China and Israel. He studies the relations between India and its neighboring countries including China, international application and management of atomic energy, disarmament and other major international affairs.
