On 27th September 2019, the Chinese government held a reception for foreign experts at the Great Hall of the People to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Vice Premier Han Zheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, attended the reception and gave a speech. 12 CFAU foreign experts and teachers’ representatives attended the reception, accompanied by Li Lewei, member of the Foreign Affairs Office.
Han expressed appreciation and greetings from President Xi Jinping and the government to all foreign experts and international friends who concern, support and participate in the reform and opening up and modernization. Han said that, in the past 70 years, a great number of foreign experts had come to China and made outstanding contributions with Chinese people to the cause of modernization which would never be forgotten. China will be more open and prepared to learn from other countries, firmly adopting more positive, open and effective policies to attract foreign talents.
CFAU representatives invited to the reception
CFAU has always attached importance to the development of its international faculty and research teams, and has been dedicated to attracting foreign experts and teachers. Since the founding of CFAU, hundreds of foreign politicians, experts, scholars and teachers have come here to deliver lectures and conduct research cooperation. Among them, two foreign experts were honored with the Friendship Award, which is the highest honor set up by the Chinese government for foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions.
Every year, CFAU hires 18-20 foreign teachers for long-term teaching and invites about 40 foreign experts to hold academic lectures, give short-term teaching or conduct research communication. CFAU’s ratio of long-term foreign teachers to undergraduates is high among universities nationwide.
International faculty members have injected new vitality into the teaching and research conducted at CFAU. They witness the responsibility and vision of CFAU members while sharing enjoyable and honorable moments together as well. They have made an outstanding contribution to the development of CFAU, the achievements of which regarding talent cultivation and scientific research condensed the hard work of foreign experts and teachers.
Among some 1,800 attendants to the reception were senior foreign experts who have been working in China for years, representatives of foreign experts in China and their spouses, and officials from the Central Committee, relevant departments of the state and Beijing Municipal government.
