On March 16, 2017, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Burundi (S.E.M. Alain Alimé NYAMITWE) led a delegation to visit our university and had a discussion with teachers and students on the topic ‘China-Africa Relations in the Perspective of Burundi’.
President Qin Yaqing and Vice President Sun Jisheng met with the delegation. President Qin expressed his warm welcome to the foreign minister and gave a brief introduction about China Foreign Affairs University. Foreign Minister Nyamitwe expressed great pleasure to visit China Foreign Affairs University and looked forward to having more exchanges and cooperation in the future.
The discussion session was hosted by Vice President Sun. Foreign Minister Nyammitwe made a speech on the current development of Africa, China-Africa relations, Sino-Burundi trade and other issues.
After that, H. E. answered questions from students regarding prospects of China-Burundi economic and trade development, China's investment in Africa and other issues. Finally, H. E. once again affirmed the important role of China for many years of aid, and believed that China-Africa cooperation is a mutually beneficial and win-win practice.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Burundi, Nyamitwe, assumed his office on May 21, 2015. He has been Burundi’s Ambassador to the African Union and Ethiopia, and Ambassador to Nigeria.
