Research Center for Commercial Dispute Resolution

Director: Prof. LU Song

The Research Center for Commercial Dispute Resolution at China Foreign Affairs University was established in 2012 to study dispute resolution in relation to commercial transactions and disseminate its research findings.

Members of the center, who are also faculty members of the Department of International Law, include Prof. LU Song, Prof. SUN Jilu, Prof. XU Junke, Prof. HE Wanzhong, Prof. SONG Xiumei, Prof. ZANG Li and Prof. ZHANG Hua.

The principal achievement, and the result of a joint program between the center and the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), has been the publication of the CIETAC Guidelines on Evidence. The guidelines were published in 2015 after several years of study and discussion involving domestic and international lawyers as well as arbitrators. These Guidelines now serve as important evidentiary rules of reference for arbitration users as well as Chinese and foreign arbitration practitioners engaged in CIETAC arbitration. The Center has also established a website “Kuangshan Forum” to share information and discusses rules and practices relating to commercial dispute resolution.
