United Nations Studies Center of China Foreign Affairs University

Director: Prof. JIANG Guoqing

The United Nations Studies Center of China Foreign Affairs University is an academic research and exchange institution that studies and explores the theory and practice of multilateral cooperation mechanisms by focusing mainly upon the United Nations system under the new era.

Two former directors of the Center were respectively Prof. YUAN Shibin, a distinguished expert of the United Nations and multilateral cooperation institutions of China, and Prof. ZHENG Qirong, the former Vice President of China Foreign Affairs University. The incumbent director is a former Dean of the International Law Department and former director of the Institute of International Law of China Foreign Affairs University.

The purposes of the center -- in line with the solid foundation and powerful resources of the study and practice of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and China Foreign Affairs University -- are as follows: to closely study the development tendencies of the United Nations affairs and its related cooperation mechanisms; to promote the progress of China’s United Nations studies through interdisciplinary research; and to provide theoretical support and service for China to participate actively in multilateral cooperation mechanisms.

China Foreign Affairs University is one of the few institutions in China designated as a depository for United Nations documentation. The center fully uses this advantage to establish its own database of United Nations studies. It regularly edits the Newsletter of the United Nations Studies, publishes timely activities and related research results on the center’s website to enhance the center as an excellent platform for the academic exchange and cooperation with regard to United Nations studies.

Newsletter of the United Nations Studies introduces activities and research conducted by the center and also publishes United Nations studies from outside sources. Domestic and overseas experts and scholars are welcomed to write papers for the center’s website to form a literary circle to strengthen United Nations studies, and promote the development of the United Nations cause of China.
