Under the auspices of CFAU and the DEIS, this center has gathered together an outstanding group of scholars in American social and cultural studies. Most of them have at least two years of systematic learning, studying or working in renowned American universities. This experience has laid solid foundations for their engagement in American social and cultural studies. The center attaches great importance to research and the investigation of major issues affecting American society and culture. American history, ethnicity, religion, and ethnic literatures are key research areas.
The center constantly organizes multi-level academic activities. Experts and scholars from home and abroad, who specialize in American social and cultural studies, are frequently invited to take part in academic exchanges. The center has opened up a number of courses to CFAU students such as themes and topics in American history, multicultural American literature, racial and ethnic studies of the United States, U.S. government and politics, U.S. foreign policy, introduction to Great Britain and the United States, and U.S. law and diplomacy.
