Other Training Programmes

DEIS offers translation & interpretation and applied English training programmes. The Department has participated the training for senior interpreters from Singapore and other countries, and offered advanced translation & interpreting training programmes for Ministry of Science and Technology, five provinces in Northwest China, sections of foreign affairs in Tibet, World Health Organization, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Personnel and other institutions. DEIS has also held English training sessions for functionaries from various state ministries, such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, Ministry of Personnel, United Front Work Department, Ministry of Science and Technology, General Administration of Press and Publication, Organization Department of Beijing Municipal Party Committee, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Personnel, Organization Department of Changping District Party Committee, China Development Bank, CCTV, etc.

The trainers are all senior faculty members of DEIS who are experienced in both teaching and training. Meanwhile, to ensure the effect of teaching, the Department equips each training class with a class adviser, subdeans responsible for teaching of the Department audit classes regularly, and trainees are surveyed on the teaching effect during and after the session. The programme proves to be effective, as can be seen in trainees’ improved translation competence, better performance in foreign services on their own in English, broadened horizon and improved proficiency in foreign work.
