The Training Programme for Senior Interpreters for Foreign Services is a key feature training programme of Department of English & International Studies (DEIS). Launched in 2002 with the approval of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the programme has up to now gone through nearly 40 full-time and part-time sessions altogether. The trainees are from Foreign Affairs Office of city and provincial levels, foreign affairs sections of state ministries, enterprises, etc. The programme aims to improve the trainees’ translation & interpreting competence, particularly the interpreting competence. After intensive class training and after-class practice, trainees acquire the practical skills and basic theories of translation and interpreting in a short time. The quality and effect of the programme is well-recognized.

Trainers for this programme are experienced in both teaching and training. Courses are well-arranged, which include advanced interpreting, translation, sight-interpretation, interpreting practice, introduction to simultaneous interpretation, listening and interpreting , simulation exercise, topical discussion, etc.
