On the afternoon of 22nd October 2019, Professor Adam Tyson and Doctor Gillian Bolsover from the School of Politics and International Studies of the University of Leeds were invited by the Department of English and International Studies (DEIS) to visit the Shahe Campus of China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU). Professor Xu Hongcheng, teaching vice-dean of DEIS, Xu Ran, vice director of the teaching and research office of translation, and Rong Dan, teaching secretary of DEIS, attended the meeting. Faculties from two schools exchanged views about the exchange program for the Diplomatic Translation Training Class and proposed advice for the next year’s work.

Later, Professor Tyson and Doctor Bolsover gave a lecture with the theme of “Combating Fake News: 2020 US Presidential Election and Online Broadcasting Show ‘Real News Update’” for students in the course “Contemporary US Government and Policies.” Associate professor Yang Yue hosted the lecture. The professors fully introduced the role and function of US media in the US political system with case studies. In the end, students raised questions to the professors and appreciated for their excellent lecture.
