From November 27 to December 3, 2018, at the invitation of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of India, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Youth Federation organized a Chinese youth delegation to pay a seven-day friendly visit to India. The Department of English and International Studies, CFAU, sent two undergraduate students, Li Huihai and Hu Yutong, to join the delegation to have in-depth exchanges with Indian youths.
The youth exchanges between China and India started in 2006, and till now, nearly 4,000 young people have exchanged visits in both countries. This time, the Chinese youth delegation consisted of about 200 people and visited the Indian capital of New Delhi, the western business center of Mumbai and the famous cultural city of Kolkata. On the first day, the delegation paid a visit to the Chinese Embassy in India to participate in the China-India Youth Festival. Ambassador Luo Zhaohui said that China-India relations are currently in one of the best times in history. Good bilateral cooperation has provided a solid foundation and good opportunities for youth exchanges. Today, Chinese and Indian youths should seize the opportunity, stand on the shoulders of their predecessors, and push China-India relations to a new level.
In India, the delegation visited National School of Drama, Indian Institute of Technology, National Museum of India, the Science City, the incubators of innovative projects, etc., and went to local communities and the countryside to have extensive interactions with young people from all walks of life in India. The Chinese and Indian youths had heated discussions on youth education, youth entrepreneurship and national infrastructure construction.
By participating in this activity, the two English department students have developed a good understanding of India. They experienced Indian culture and conveyed friendship to Indian youths. As messengers of Chinese good will, they helped promote China-India relationship.
