The contest was held at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) on Nov. 25, 2017 and jointly sponsored by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education and UIBE.
The contest took as its theme Individual Value and Social Responsibility and was divided into two stages. In the morning semi-final stage, Tang Jie gained his group’s highest score to qualify for the final in the afternoon.
He won first prize with a prepared speech rich in content and relevant to the theme and a fluent impromptu speech. He gave perfect answers to the questions that followed the speeches.
TheEnglish Speech Contest for Beijing College Students has become one of the largest and most influential English speech events in Beijing since it was first held in 2009. English majors from CFAU have achieved many successes in the competition over the years.
This success for Tang Jie is the latest in a series of outstanding achievements in the "English Speaking Contest of 21st Century Cup" National Public Speaking Contest, the "FLTRP Cup" National Public Speaking Contest. His successes have brought honor for CFAU.
