Gu Xin from the Department of Foreign Languages Wins the Championship at the National College French Speech Contest

The finals of the tenth National College French Speech Contest was successfully held at the Institutfranco-chinois de l'Université de Renmin de Chine on November 11th, 2017. The contest was jointly sponsored by the French subcommittee of the Ministry of Education Foreign Language Teaching Advisory Board and China’s French Teaching Research Association. The 2017 competition was named the “U challenge Cup.”. The contest was divided into two parts: the online preliminary and the offline finals. Gu Xin, a French major from the Department of Foreign Languages at CFAU, stood out among the contestants selected by nearly one hundred colleges and universities across the country and entered the national finals.

After the first round of 3-minute prepared speeches (topic: Réflexionssurl’espritd’équipe) and the second round of three-minute impromptu speeches, Gu Xin  competed against other excellent contestants from the Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai International Studies University, Sichuan International Studies University, Nanjing University, and Capital Normal University. At the end of the contest, four students were awarded first prize, four students were awarded second prize, and seven students were awarded third prize.

Gu Xin’s presentation demonstrated her French fluency, clarity, and coherence. She earned the praise of the judges and won first prize with the highest grades.
