On 29 October 2019, the president of CFAU, Xu Jian, met with the Senior Vice President of Xiaomi Group and her party. Sun Jisheng and Li Hongmei, the vice presidents of CFAU, and the leaders of the Student Department, the Postgraduate Department and the Office of President attended the meeting.

President Xu Jian delivered an introduction to CFAU and expressed his expectation of cooperation with Xiaomi Group. Xu emphasized the responsibility of CFAU in providing diplomatic talents as the only university affiliated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the single institution for training in diplomacy and foreign affairs. He expressed his hope that CFAU should develop further in new areas, strive for resources in private sectors and enhance its cooperation with enterprises.

Qi Yan introduced the fundamentals of Xiaomi Group and expressed her expectation of cooperation with CFAU. Qi expressed that Xiaomi Group is a technology-oriented, promising and healthy internet company and has been promoting its business in the world in recent years. Thus, Xiaomi is in need of top talents in foreign languages and is willing to establish an intern platform for students, helping students to gather information concerning technological development and enterprise.

The two parties further discussed possible fields and feasible approaches for cooperation.
