The 2022 Online Training Program for Tajik Diplomats, hosted by the Department of European-Central Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and organized by China Diplomatic Academy was held from March 29 through April 13. On the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tajikistan, the training program was an cooperative exchange project agreed to and implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of both countries. It also was the first training, related to foreign affairs, held virtually by China Diplomatic Academy (CDA) under the context of COVID-19 pandemic. Both sides attached great importance to the program. The Chinese side organized the curriculum and arranged agenda of the program, and the diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan and the Tajik Embassies in China were present throughout the training program The success of the training program provides new impetus to enrich bilateral cooperation between China and Tajikistan.

During the program, Ambassador Cui Qiming, Secretary of the CPC Committee of China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) and Vice Chancellor of the China Diplomatic Academy (CDA), attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Xu Zhongsheng, Vice Chancellor of CDA, presided over the closing ceremony and awarded program-completion certificates to the trainees online. The program invited many senior Chinese ambassadors and well-known experts and scholars to give lectures, via video link, to Tajik diplomats. The topics included Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, pandemic prevention and control with socio-economic development, the Chinese experience in poverty alleviation, the Belt and Road Initiative, and the building of a human community with a shared future.

The trainees were also given an original virtual visit of the Terracotta Army in Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum, in order to experience the rich cultural and historic traditions of China.During the process of the program, trainees commented that they considered Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy to be extensive and profound, that China’s development achievements were remarkable worldwide, and that Chinese civilization was lasting and brilliant. They believed that this program provides a significant platform for Tajik diplomats to gain an extensive knowledge of China’s national situation and international contribution, and a deeper understanding of China’s diplomatic policies and path of peaceful development. It also strengthens the friendship between the diplomatic personnel and departments of both countries and lays a solid foundation for future cooperation. The Tajik side appreciated the meticulous design and considerate arrangement of the Chinese side, and took the training program as an opportunity to deepen exchange and cooperation, so as to further elevate China-Tajikistan comprehensive strategic partnership, and jointly strive for the benefits of both peoples.
