Short-term training programme | One week to three months | According to different requests made by the sponsor, programmes may be organized individually. Each programme may include ten to thirty participants. | I. Lectures (taught in English or French): 1.China’s basic national conditions and policies 2.Diplomacy and international relations 3.Chinese language II. Seminars and cultural events in Beijing: 1. Meeting and Seminar with CFAU academic staff and students/or relevant government agencies/organizations (including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, research institutions and corporations) 2. Cultural events including visiting Beijing city exhibition hall, museums and various historical sites. III. Study tour in China’s other provinces: Participants are to visit one to two of China’s provinces. Study tours in other provinces may include visits to major provincial city’s local government, company and local villages. Study tours would offer participants a glimpse of the development of China and according to different aims of the programme, the content of the tour may vary. | 167 short-term programmes organized in total, involving 3281 participants from 150 different countries. |
Chinese language and culture programme | One term to four terms | Participants are to study with CFAU international students on Chinese language courses. | I. Chinese language courses, up to 20 study hours a week. Main courses include: 1. Chinese language (compulsory): Listening, writing, reading and speaking 2. Chinese culture (optional):
Chinese shadow boxing, calligraphy 3. Diplomacy (optional):
For participants of higher Chinese language level, optional courses such as Diplomacy (taught in Chinese) are also available. II. Cultural events, to be held every month. Cultural events include visits to museums and various historical sites. | 273 participants from 48 countries. |
Chinese-English interpretation professional training programme | One term | Participants are to study with CFAU Chinese MA students on Interpretation courses. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are also invited to give participants lectures. | I. Chinese-English interpretation courses, up to 20 hours a week. Main courses include: Advanced English Oral Interpretation, sight translation, Advanced Chinese-English Interpretation, Advanced English-Chinese Interpretation. II. Cultural Events, to be held every month. Cultural events include visits to museums and various historical sites. | 13 participants from Singapore. |
Master’s programme of International Relations | One academic year | Participants are enrolled as CFAU MA students. Participants who meet all requirements set by CFAU upon graduation will be awarded an MA degree and a certificate. | I. Programme content including courses, cultural events, thesis defense and student evaluation are duly arranged according to schedules and regulations of full time MA students set by the Ministry of Education of China. Main courses include:Introduction to International Relations, Theories of International Relations,Contemporary China’s Foreign Policy,Comparative Political Analysis,Mandarin, etc. II. Study tours in other provinces of China. Study tours in other provinces may include visits to major provincial city’s local government, companies and local villages.
