The United Nations Studies Center at China Foreign Affairs University is an academic research and exchange institution that aims to study and explore the theory and practice of multilateral cooperation mechanisms by focusing upon the United Nations system under the new era.

Two former directors of the center were Professor Yuan Shibing, a distinguished expert of the United Nations and multilateral cooperation institutions of China, and Professor Zheng Qirong, the former vice-president of China Foreign Affairs University. The present director is Professor Jiang Guoqing, former dean of the International Law Department and former director of the Institute of International Law at China Foreign Affairs University.

The purpose of the United Nations Studies Center is to study the development tendencies of the United Nations and its related cooperation mechanisms. To this end, it relies on the solid foundation and powerful resources of the study and practice of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and China Foreign Affairs University. The center aims to promote the progress of China’s United Nations studies by conducting interdisciplinary research work and also to provide theoretical support and services for China to participate in multilateral cooperation mechanisms.

China Foreign Affairs University is one of the few designated depository institutions of the United Nations documentation in China. The center will fully use the advantage of this depository and progressively establish its own database of United Nations studies. The center regularly edits the Newsletter of the United Nations Studies, publishing timely activities and related research results on its website in order to make the center an excellent platform of the academic exchange and cooperation of United Nations studies.

The Newsletter of the United Nations Studies introduces activities and research works of the center while also publishing other related achievements of the United Nations studies from outside. It welcomes domestic and overseas experts and scholars to write papers for the website, to form a literary circle to strengthen United Nations studies, and promote the development of the United Nations cause of China.
