 The BRICS Research Center at CFAU was founded in May 2012. The center has a highly professional faculty, including three professors and ten associate professors. More than ten researchers are carrying out research on BRICS cooperation and BRICS member countries. 

         In addition to this research, the BRICS Research Center actively cooperates with the university to engage foreign experts and organize academic activities. The center has hosted foreign experts from the U.S., Germany, Italy, India and Russia. In 2014, the BRICS Research Center at CFAU signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the BRICS Research Center at Fudan University to strengthen academic cooperation. In September 2015, the center worked with the Institute of International Relations at CFAU to co-organize an international workshop on Emerging Countries and World Order. More than 30 scholars and government officials from China, Russia, India, Brazil, the U.S. and Germany were invited. The workshop discussed the achievements of and challenges for the emerging countries, the driving force for BRICS cooperation, and the significance of these new emerging countries on the restructuring and streamlining of the world order. The workshop received a good response.

 Researchers at the BRICS Research Center have published articles in Chinese journals such as Foreign Affairs Review, Global Review, Contemporary World, Academic Frontier, etc. Professor Lu Jing, the director of the center, is conducting a National Social Science Fund Project, “A Study on the Driving Force of BRICS Sustainable Cooperation”.
