The Research Centre for Commercial Dispute Resolution of the China Foreign Affairs University (the “Centre”) was established in 2012 with a purpose of studying and disseminating practices and information about dispute resolution, especially those related to commercial transactions.

The main staffs at the Centre, who are also faculty members of the International Law Department of China Foreign Affairs University, include Prof. LU Song, Prof. SUN Jilu, Prof. XU Junke, Prof. HE Wanzhong, Prof. SONG Xiumei, Prof. ZANG Li and Prof. ZHANG Hua.

The principal achievement is the output of a joint programme between the Centre and China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”), namely the CIETAC Guidelines on Evidence. The Guidelines, which were issued to the public in 2015, have been completed after several years of study and discussion involving domestic and international lawyers and arbitrators. These Guidelines now serve as important evidentiary rules of reference for arbitration users as well as Chinese and foreign arbitration practitioners who engaged in CIETAC arbitration. The Centre has also established an online website “Kuangshan Forum” that shares information and discusses rules and practice relating to commercial dispute resolution.
