Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui attends inauguration ceremony for Students 2017 of CFAU

The inauguration ceremony for students 2017 was held in the auditorium in Shahe campus of China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU), an occasion also taken to celebrate this year’s teachers’ Day. It was chaired by Jiang Ruiping, the vice-president of CFAU. Zhang Yesui, the Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the convention and delivered a speech.

 

Secretary Zhang summarized the historic achievements made in party building and national development since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. He also briefed on foreign policy achievements in our country. He urged the university to carry on the great mission to train more qualified talents for Party building and national development, especially for the cause of foreign affairs. He encouraged the students to inherit the revolutionary tradition, hold fast onto their dreams and carry forward the fighting spirit. Secretary Zhang also asked the students to study hard, to go through strenuous training and to develop an interest in global affairs so as to foster a global vision.

 

Professor Qin Yaqing, president of CFAU, delivered a speech on behalf of the university, extending gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its constant care and support and saying that all faculty and students would act on Secretary Zhang’s speech and achieve good results in important tasks for this year. Qin went on to put forward three expectations for the freshmen: striving for dreams, cultivating moral integrity, and studying diligently to cultivate characters.

Representatives for teachers and students also spoke at the meeting. Some officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended the meeting , among whom were director-general Cao Mingzhong of the Department of Personnel, executive deputy secretary Deng Boqing of the Department for Party-related Affairs, director-general Guo Wu of the Adminstrative Department, deputy director-general Wu Chuntai of the General Office, deputy director-general Zhou Jian of the Policy Planning Department, deputy director-general Cai Haoming of the Finance Department and deputy director-general Meng Yue of the Department of Services for Foreign Ministry Home and Overseas Offices.
